Hampton Canoe club

is a social paddling club based on a beautiful part of the Thames opposite The Bell Inn, Hampton

With the emphasis on social paddling, groups of paddlers go out every weekend that the weather and river conditions allow, along with Wednesday evenings in the summer. These are a mix of local paddles as well as trips further afield.

New members are always welcome, and we have regular Improver sessions throughout the main season to support new paddlers.

Hampton Canoe Club is run by and for its members on an entirely voluntary basis.

Kayaking Courses

Each year we offer a series of Kayaking courses throughout the Spring and Summer for non-members. These courses provide the essential skills to become a basic adult paddler and are the required minimum standard if you plan to join the club. Please see the courses page for dates.

  • Run by club coaches
  • 12 hours training
  • Access to club boats
  • Paddles & Buoyancy Aids
  • British Canoeing Qualification

Improver Sessions

New members can join Improver sessions on completion of one of our courses or an assessment by a coach.

  • Run by a coach or trip leader
  • Confidence building sessions
  • 1 – 2 hours
  • Access to club boats
  • Paddles & Buoyancy Aids

What we offer

Social Paddling

Local paddles generally occur every Wednesday evening and Saturday, with impromptu paddles arranged throughout the week between members.

Social Events

We arrange several social events throughout the year, including our ‘Fun’ Regatta, Hare and Hounds race series, Christmas Lunch and barbeques.

Frequent day trips are arranged to our local waterways, and longer overnight trips to further flung places.

Club Equipment

Members can use club boats, buoyancy aids and paddles as often as they want. The Club has Kayaks of varying stability. We also have several Canoes and SUPs.

The club is now open to new members.

People paddle at their own risk. Canoeing and kayaking are risk sports, involuntary capsizes are routine, and other injuries and accidents are possible.
