Covid reminders

Clean everything

  • Wash/sanitise hands on arrival and before and after paddling
  • Sign in/out like usual
  • Clean and dry the boat and paddle after use – bring your own towel (spares in drawers but they must be returned washed)
  • Use the soap and water for boats and paddles please as the spray isn’t easy to come by
  • Spray the club BAs with the antibacterial spray supplied

Facilities

  • Arrive ready to paddle. The changing room should only be used to change after an accidental capsize, and only one person at a time in the change room.
  • You may use the toilet; spray the toilet and basin with the anti-bac spray.
  • The tea and coffee facilities are not in use.
  • Paddle locally – only paddle from the clubhouse, and don’t take club boats away from the clubhouse.

General reminders:

  • Bring your dry bag with hat and spare clothes, and pogies or non slip gloves
  • Bring a towel for the boat (hopefully not for yourself, but a micro fibre towel is a good investment)
  • Check Thames river conditions regularly here: http://riverconditions.environment-agency.gov.uk
  • Avoid going out on yellow or red boards unless you are a very competent paddler
  • Check the weather and wind speed as paddling in wind over 16mph will be hard work

  • If you visit the club and subsequently experience any symptoms please let the committee know
  • If you have any symptoms, or are self-isolating, please do not visit the club
  •

  • Dan Henley Trip camping Trip

    July 9, 2021 - July 11, 2021

I'm looking to do a camping trip along the river around Henley, for the 9-11 July 2021.

Plan is simulator to last year, where we will be based at campsite, list below.

If restrictions have been lifted by then and allow car sharing.

Plan A - with car shuttle.

    Day 1,
paddle from Marsport Reading (RG6 1RA) to Henley 9-10 miles.
Option 1 (preferred) - canoes and sea kayaks only, paddle down river Thames, St. Patricks stream and Hennerton backwaters (couple of pictures to wet your appetite).

Option 2 - k1's, paddle down river Thames only (extra portage).

Day 2, paddle Henley to Marlow (SL7 2AQ), 7 miles.

    Plan B - (same as 2020)

Paddle from campsite (Henley) both days there and back trips.

Save on car shuttle but TWICE the distance on the river.

Camping at Embers campsite Henley £49.50 for 2 nights https://www.emberscamping.co.uk/campsites/henley-oxfordshire/
this campsite has a pizza service if ordered in advance.

I've attached a few pictures for inspiration.

Plan A -  car shuttle either at beginning or end of trip. (distance by road between start and finish 12.5 miles, 25 mins).

If you wanted to only do one of the days, you would have to do your own arrangements with boats and cars.

If your interested in going please let me know.

    Best regards and happy paddling.
