Prize giving 2017

Hamptoneers came from near and far by canoe, kayak, bike, car and Adam ran up the towpath to be at the Annual club prize giving at the Weir pub on Saturday. A few extras turned up but seats were found for all, lunch taken with a drink or two before Phil turned to the serious matter of the day, handing out the prizes for mileage paddled, DW achievements and other more light hearted awards – see full details below. If you were not there to collect your award we’ll get it to you somehow.

Sarah took a few pictures for the record – here they are.

Summer Regatta or .. just messing about in boats!

“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”
Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows

A good number of Hamptoneers and their friends and family took part in the the Annual Hampton Canoe Club Fun Regatta last Saturday morning. There were events to test your ingenuity, your agility and your speed on the water. Jenny has written up the official account here. (with pictures)

Prizegiving – 2014

The Weir Pub by the river in Walton played host today to a good sized group of Hamptoneers who had paddled, cycled, walked or driven to the annual prize giving lunch, superbly organised by Kathryn. The awards were many and varied from Best Capsize which went to Peter McBride to the more serious ‘Platinum’ paddling award to Babs and Jeff Simmons for winning multiple Gold awards during their lifetime.
